Hi! I'm a Sheltie lover in Wichita, KS. I have some great little dogs as my pets and enjoy photography. They all have their own pages on here and I add new pictures frequently. We have had puppies and tried our hands at showing dogs in the past but it hasn't turned out to be our 'thing' and now the dogs are all spayed and neutered happy couch potatoes. Maybe someday a long time from now we'll try again, we'll just have to see!

I'm so stinkin' proud of my pups, Oona was one of 15 finalists in the Wichita Eagle Newspapers 'beautiful dog' contest this last week and last December Billy was a finalist in the Christmas photo contest for the Wichita Eagle!

I was just web surfing, and came across The Daily Puppy website (which by the way is an amazingly adorable site). Having joined a long time ago I just never went back again. I looked in my inbox there and realized that my Billy had been the Daily Puppy on September 5th of last year! It's all the same pictures from on here, but SOOO sweet how many people had wonderful things to say about my pup!!! Aw, Billy's such a winner :)

I started out as a child with a pet collie and from there became an animal lover in general. I worked in animal rescue as a young adult where I fostered and fell in love with a little male sheltie. I was stuck on his smarts and loyalty right away! He was the start that had me look for my own sheltie--Billy. I haven't taken the idea of producing puppies lightheartedly. There are tons of puppies in the world that need homes, so if I have any they will be the highest quality in health, attitude, appearance and pedigree that I am capable of. I've done my research on my breed, breeding in general, and dog care. My dogs have traits that blend wonderfully and I'm very proud of the quality of puppy they have produced! I don't believe in overbreeding--I like my girls to be pretty and nicely coated. Some people might think that you make money breeding dogs, but if all the care and proper expenses are involved it's pretty lucky if you break even!!! My last two litters have actually cost us money to have lol!!! My goal is to show shelties, but I haven't had a show prospect turn out yet. So, some day down the road that will hopefully happen. Until then I plan to have a couple more litters for fun!

Shelties are my favorite breed of dog, I love their sweet, intelligent personalities, their happy disposition and love of all things outdoors. They're nice dogs that play with kids and cats and other dogs and are ready to go wherever you'll take them. Shelties are small to medium and very compact, they don't eat a lot (other than my Oona), and can keep up with you in the outdoors unlike some other small dogs. They like to have daily exercise and will greatly benefit from it, but will just as gladly become a couch potato if that's the lifestyle you choose.

Some Shelties can be prone to shyness, but a properly bred pup shouldn't have any trouble adjusting to new situations. They should prefer their family and show aloofness towards strangers, but never fear. A good sheltie should be a stable, happy family member. If you have a sheltie that is on the shy side, proper socialization can do wonders for him. Sometimes a shy dog with an otherwise wonderful temperament could have just been very poorly socialized, so make sure to socialize young.

One of the main reasons the Shetland Sheepdog was the breed I chose was how wonderfully they get along with other types of animals. When I was working at the animal rescue there were many occasions that birds, rabbits, ferrets, cats and other dogs ended up at my house for periods of time. Billy has never been phased by any animal that came to 'stay over' and is completely happy to play with anyone he meets!

A few years back I brought home three little diamond doves. I didn't know if they were boys or girls, but after a while they had a clutch of babies. I was sitting in a chair and Billy walked over and sat something at my feet very slowly and then stepped back and stared at me. I ignored him for a minute and then he wined in my direction some more, I looked down and noticed something tiny squirming by my feet. One of the newborn little doves, not even an inch and a half long, had fallen out of it's nest. Billy had picked it up and carried it to me without hurting it--it wasn't even wet! These are such special little dogs!

Boy or girl sheltie? The majority of the time people associate bad habits with male dogs, but Shelties seem to be a breed that male and female are very similar. Male shelties usually do not have any of the typical boy dog problems and get along with other males just fine. The only times I've ever heard of male shelties with marking problems has been in breeding situations. My Billy is now 8 years old, intact, and living with two girls and he's never marked on anything. He still squats in the yard and has always been a good boy. In Shelties the boys seem to stay goofier later in life where as the girls seem to grow more dignified with age. Oona will very gladly ignore me some times, while Billy is always with me waiting to see what I'm doing next. I think one of the main differences would have to be devotion, Billy is one of the most faithful dogs I've ever met :)

All breeds have their good and their bad, the bad being the part that more people will be interested in. As a general rule shelties WILL do two things that some people may find hard to live with: bark and shed, and they do a bunch of both!

BARKING: Shelties are 'happy barkers', they bark while they play, when they're running, to sound the alarm of an intruder, or to get your attention. Some shelties just bark to be barking I think. This is a trait of the breed. Living with crofters they had to have a big voice on a little dog that could carry for a long ways off. Their job was to keep birds and livestock out of gardens and to help protect and herd sheep. Most sheltie owners today don't have sheep though, and have no way of convincing their dog that squirrels and birds are not terrible intruders. Barking is a problem that is easiest to deal with if it is never allowed to get out of control. Plus, what you might not be bothered by in the dog that you love, your neighbors will hate. If your sheltie is a yapper I'm an advocate of debarking. Here are a couple links about debarking.

When you're on youtube if you search for debarked, check out how many of the videos turn up shelties! My sheltie, Oona, came to my house already debarked, and before owning her I was very against the procedure, but I think it makes her happier. She's never in trouble for her barking and can play outside for as long as she wants when we're outside without my worrying about a neighbor being upset.

Something that I am against: shock collars and citronella collars. Shock collars just plain suck! I bought one as a training device when CeCe was young and before I ever put it on her I held it to my own neck and barked. I will NEVER bark again, but I'm not sure all dogs catch that lesson so fast! It didn't hurt, but it was very, very unpleasant--it stopped me in my tracks! Citronella collars are just plain mean also. My friend tried one on her dog and he did quit barking, but who wants citronella juice sprayed in their mouth eyes and nose?! I'd rather be shocked again!
Oh, and not all shelties are barkers. Billy barks at the door for me and is a completely reliable watch dog. For years now if Billy barked in the night I would consider it serious enough to get up and investigate.

SHEDDING: Shelties have long, beautiful, double layered coats. Adults blow their coat once a year and pups lose their puppy fur once at just over a year of age. If you keep on top of shedding by grooming your dogs weekly it's really not so bad. During shed seasons you might want to even brush them every day or two. If you have all wood and tile in your house like I do you will be sweeping every day during shed seasons. Some people say that the males shed less than the females and I think I agree with them--Billy's really not a bad shedder. The girls on the other hand can shed! Every time one of them goes into heat she blows her coat again. If you decide to let your dog have puppies, after the birth she'll shed herself almost bald. Spaying your dog will make her shed a lot less since she won't cycle. The hair is one of those things you'll just have to decide personally if you like or not. If you do have a sheltie and decide to shave them down please make sure to not shave to the skin, this can make your poor dog very uncomfortable.

Billy is a very devoted frisbee, tennis ball or stick fetching little dog!These next four pictures are from our vacation to visit family in Colorado this last summer. Billy was a perfect house guest and had a blast running around in the mountains. We were lucky enough to be there while the wildflowers were blooming!

Aww! Here's my little sheepdog after finding a sheepskin!!!

This guy's my baby. He's 13 1/2 in., and weighs 14 lbs., a great little dog! He housebroke himself, loves everyone and is a joy to live with. Billy has never chewed anything up (in his entire life). His cute trick is counting to three! There's a video of him counting at the bottom of this page. Billy is a VERY petite little guy. He's too finely boned for standard, but still very beautiful. When people come to my house they always end up thinking he's the cutest of the three and has the exact attitude they want their pup to have. Echo Mountain Crescent Moon

CeCe is a spayed female tri color sheltie. She has very rich colors to her coat, almost a blue/black. Her brown accents are coppery and rich, not washed out at all. We had planned to grow her out for show but she didn't turn out due to odds and ends. At about six months of age she broke her knee while playing alongside the neighbors' two boxer puppies. This healed perfectly and doesn't bother her at all. My vet is AWESOME! CeCe has cross pins in her back leg that never seemed to phase her or slow her down a bit! I didn't stick with her ear glue during the recovery and ruined her pretty ears myself. She had perfectly tipped ears, but after 6 weeks right at that crucial point of not being glued they stuck up!

In my opinion she's my most beautiful dog, but I'm biased. I love her slightly collie expression and face. Very beautiful almond shaped eyes. She has a great temperament and loves to play--she's the brat of my bunch.

CeCe is my fastest sheltie and has a strong herding drive. She's the quickest learner, also.

As long as there's nothing more fun going on she's usually at my feet.

She's a great kid dog with a good pain tolerance--hair pulling doesn't bother her and she loves babies.

At home she loves everyone, company included! Both of her parents are champion sired. She comes from Echo Mountain shelties in Oklahoma and her parents are Thunder and Precious.

This picture above of Oona was a finalist in the Wichita Eagle's 'Beautiful dog' contest! She didn't win, but I think she came in fourth place!!!This is Oona. She's a blue merle white and tan sheltie. She's very heavily white factored. Oona is champion sired by Ch. Bach Belmark on Canvas and her mother is Belmark Champagne Wishes. She was bred by Belmark shelties in Ohio. Thanks so much to Robin of Kalo shelties for letting Oona be a part of my family!!!

She has a very stable, happy temperament and loves other animals and children. She doesn't stress out and she's never nervous like some shelties. She's built very cobbie and square, great bone structure. Her hair is perfect--very, very thick with a great stand out quality. Oona spends the majority of her time in her doggie bed!

Ryvergrove Selkie's Song

Finn is my sister's puppy, and Billy and CeCe's daughter. She's a spunky girl that has a lot of drive and attitude.

Finn was a trustworthy housepet at a very early age. She's not a barker, but is an excellent watchdog. When she plays with CeCe sometimes it's hard to tell who's who!
Well, it's too late to do anything about her ears, guess they'll be staying that way. Finn's human mom preferred them up, and I guess she got her wish!

Finn is 1 1/2 now and has grown into a very beautiful girl. She's a stocky dog with a nice stable structure. Her coat is a gorgeous blue-black just like CeCe's with no rusting at all on the tips. She'll keep this color as she ages just like her mom. In these pictures she's in her own home, ungroomed and begging for a snack!

If you wish to pay through paypal with your credit card or bank account please use the button provided above and add 3% to the total amount paid to cover their fees.

All of my dogs are purebred, American Kennel Club registered, Shetland Sheepdogs. They each come from champion lines and are very high quality dogs.

Some of my puppies may be show quality, but the ones that are not will be sold on limited registration (no breeding rights) with a strong suggestion that your puppy is spayed or neutered by the time they are six months of age. Full registration (breeding/showing rights) on a puppy will be an additional fee.

A $150.00 non refundable deposit is required to hold a puppy. Final payment must be made before a dog is picked up and this must be done by the time the puppy is 9 weeks old.
A great deal of time and expense has been put into the selection of each one of my dogs. Puppies are priced according to quality of each puppy. I offer some awesome puppies at what I feel is a very fair price. I WILL NEVER SELL TO PET STORES, PUPPY MILLS, COMMERCIAL DOG BREEDERS, or PUPPY BROKERS--NO EXCEPTIONS. These dogs are our family members and we take their placement very seriously!

HEALTH WARRANTYSeller guarantees that this said dog is free of any health irregularities/defects at the time of sale. All dogs will have been checked by a licensed veterinarian and copies of all vet statements will be supplied to the buyer. It is suggested that the buyer have the dog examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of possession (not including weekends and holidays). If this examination reveals that the puppy/dog is not in good health buyer may keep the puppy or return to seller for a refund.If said puppy is found by a licensed veterinarian to have a life threatening genetic defect that has been there since birth that will make the dog an unsuitable pet/companion the seller will refund or replace the puppy. This guarantee is limited to 6 months from the date of purchase.Seller is not responsible for any travel, veterinary or other expenses related to the return/refund of a puppy or dog.NO DOG OR PUPPY MAY EVER BE TAKEN TO A SHELTER OR POUND. If there is ever a problem you as the dog’s owner need help with, please contact seller.
ALL GUARANTEES VOID: if there are signs of neglect or abuse on the part of the buyer. If the dog is found to be abused or neglected at any point the Seller reserves the right to take immediate repossession.

Billy is such a sweet, cute guy, that some other people have asked to breed him to their dogs. He has had a couple of litters with dogs I don't own. My mom's blue merle girl, Pooka, for one. The puppies have all ended up adorable and I would love to share a few pictures that I have of them! Half of his puppies have been on the small side like him.
